Liked: Brilliant. As first time campers this was the perfect site for me and my son. The pre-pitched tent was great, it came with cooking facilities, utensils a tablet and chairs. The site had great toilets, showers and they also ran a burger night. We hired a fire pit and starter kit. Staff were kind and friendly. Amazing views on a clear night.

Disliked: There’s not much to dislike but the fire pit hire was expensive. No wifi but good for 4/5G.

Liked: Such great customer service and thoughtfulness from the owners. They genuinely put the needs of the campers first. They really thought of everything. Two lovely private showers on site + 3 lovely toilets. The showers were better than mine at home! Well maintained and stocked kitchen. The fully equipped tent was exactly that and had everything we needed and more: Table, chairs, camp beds, cooker, gas canisters, plates, crockers, pots, pans, coolbox, light. Even during the windy/rainy storm we felt well protected and snug. On site there's a lovely barn/community room with food to buy (honestly system), places to charge phones, information leaflets about things to do and about the local wildlife poster. Good Internet signal for phones. Three beautiful goats that loved being pampered and stroked (Lando was my favourite). Great to see the owners walking the goats each day around the vast fields. Recycling bins for rubbish. Lots of space between tents, so not overcrowded at all even in mid-August. Alison gave us great tips about what to do in the local area. It's a really peaceful and safe site, I did yoga behind the tent. So calming. Nice mix of fellow campers; families, couples, friends. All respectful of the rules which are clear, e.g. quiet time is 11pm-8am, although it was usually quiet all the time, other than the sounds of nature and occasionally children playing. We stayed for 7 nights as it's a great base to explore Northumberland, then we drove to Edinburgh for the Fringe. Tip for parking in Edinburgh - stay at a Park &Ride then get a bus/train into Edinburgh centre. To park there all day was only 50p, then an all day busticket is £5. We stayed at the Newcraig's..... park&ride then got the no. 30 bus to Edinburgh centre.

What a lovely site - nestled high above the stunning countryside, this site has spotless and quirky facilities. Everything to help make our stay really enjoyable. Great wash-up with a microwave, kettle and teas and coffee free to use. Lovely showers with endless hot water. There was even a barn, turned into a lounge with honesty shop for things like soups, pot noodles and chocolates. Just perfect really.

The BEST camping experience by far! We stopped at Shepherd's Rest at the beginning of our camping road trip down the east coast and this was the best campsite out of the total 3 we stopped at.

The site itself was well maintained with bushes and trees lining the different sections of the land, making it feel more intimate. The shower and toilets were squeaky clear and in great condition, did not feel like it belonged to a campsite at all! There were great kitchen facilities: microwave, kettle, some utensils in case you left them home, washing up liquid, hot water washing up sink, and you could even have some tea bags or hot choc powder for a donation to the honesty box. There was also a lounge area where there was an honesty shop in case you forgot something at home, and could also order from them fresh honey and other produce.

The host was very friendly as well!

Would massively recommend and will be back.

Beautifully kept campsite, everything you need, and more, for a comfortable stay. We loved the location away from it all yet close enough to get to Berwick and other local places of interest. The ease of accessibility to public transport is a bonus.

Really well organized and thought out site, but retaining a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. All facilities are impeccably clean. Alison was helpful, efficient and friendly throughout.
We had a brilliant relaxed stay of 5 nights with some of our adult children and will be back again, hopefully with them all next time.

So happy to have found shepherds rest after a long slog of a bike ride into the wind. With no reservation on a busy August weekend the host took us in and let us camp on their overflow area..which was totally fine. Clean restrooms, showers, an indoor rec/eating area and bonus for us an area set up with chargers and under cover for bike storage and charging. This is a new addition which the host told us they installed thanks to a Scottish government grant to encourage cycling tourism

Just a great place to stay. Not to speak for the owners but we heard at least that they will not turn cyclists away even when full. Thanks much.

We had a lovely week at the Shepherds Rest campsite in our tent. Site was clean, peaceful and in a perfect location for exploring Northumberland and Scotland. The site was contained and cars weren't allowed on the pitch which gave us freedom with my seven and four year old sons who went off exploring. The site was quiet and the owners kept a check on this after 11pm which I was grateful for as a group next door where being a little louder than should which woke one of my sons. Boys loved seeing the goats, ponies and sheep too. Along with seeing an owl and bats. We would definitely stay again

Great camping facilities. Clean, everything in excellent working order. Showers were hot with great water pressure. The kids loved playing in the field & meeting the goats. Close to the A1 for travel to nearby beaches & other excursions. Great value for money & hosts very welcoming.
