Absolutely brillant campsite. Had a warm welcome from Sarah who was super friendly and informative, we also chatted to another gentleman who worked there, both so bubbly and happy to help. |I admittedly have only been camping a handful of times, however this campsite stood out by a mile in comparison to other sites I have stayed on. Very well organised, clean and modern. The bathrooms were big with several stalls and 3 showers with hot water, the bathrooms always looked & smelled very clean. There is a kitchen facility with a fridge, sink and dish washing amenities. Washing machine & plugs so you can charge your phones etc. There is also a shared outdoor living area where you can cook/ relax if your tent etc isn't big enough. There is a large children play area. Pub within a 5 min walk, keilder castle 7 min walk and onside shop that stocked toliteries, some medicines and most importantly midgie repellant and nets! (The midgies are very bad make sure you take stuff to protect yourself from them). We took a walk down to keilder lake which took about 45mins and was a lovely scenic walk. Site is dog friendly too! I'll absolutely be recommending this site to all, it's caravan friendly and has some moterhomes which I'm presuming you can rent out and small log cabins which I'll absolutely be looking to book in the near future!

Booked this site as we had been to the area last year for a day trip and wanted to explore further. I did a lot of research on the site as I like to know all the pros and cons before making a decision. I came armed with plenty of bug spray but we barely noticed the midgies! The weather was bad all weekend but the toilets and showers were kept clean at all times. The pot wash area was small and clean, enough for 2 or 3 to be using it at the same time. There is a play area for kids and an undercover cooking area. A strict no parking on the grass rule means your car is parked a short walk away and it helps keep the site less muddy. Steve greated us on arrival with all the information we could have needed and hints and tips on where to pitch in the windy weather. Very friendly guy and stopped to talk to us round the site over the next 3 days. Great location for walks and exploring the area. Beautiful surroundings with the river on one side and the trees on the other. Cannot fault the place and can’t wait to come again.

We visited for the dark skies and the annual meteor shower for a few nights. It’s a well serviced site with really everything you need including shower and toilet block which is clean and well maintained, communal areas including washing machine and drier, communal fridge and freezer and covered cooking area with kids play area. Drinking water on tap. You cannot park your car next to your tent however you need to leave this a few mins walk away in the car park. Very friendly management on arrival. Please be aware that if your a leisure camper this camp site is also very popular with very active guests who do not take kindly to any noise after 10… it is quiet time not complete lockdown but there is always campsite noise of zips etc of people going to the loo for example, we witnessed another active camper literally screaming at their neighbour for going to the toilet in the middle of the night… not very neighbourly as their stay was just as important as theirs. I hope this was isolated but just to be aware. Oh and the reviews about midges… completely accurate they come out as it starts to get dark or if wet and they are brutal, no nets or sprays made any difference. Located a couple mins walk from a really good pub which serves food.

Had a wonderful stay here camping for two nights. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Take all the advice they give about the midges. Their website info enabled us to come prepared with head nets and spray. Stunning location for exploring kielder water. Facilities clean and shower was hot and powerful! They have a room with communal freezer in which came in handy too. Will definitely be back!

Had a lovely 3 nights here despite the dreaded midges! We camped and luckily have an indoor area where we could prepare food aware from them. But beautiful location in the woods with walks on the doorstep and the castle and pub a few minutes walk.
Sarah and Steve were super helpful and kind. Allowing our 2 year old to help feed the ducks and sourcing lots of second hand books for us to have! Great shower/ dishwashing/ laundry/ charging block.
We will be back.

Stayed in a pod for 3 nights for a birthday weekend recently Aug 2024, and the whole experience made my birthday more magical. The site is perfect size to keep it from being too noisy or busy. Had no issues at anytime getting in the toilet or shower. The showers were big, power showers with really hot water perfect for when sweaty & grubby after walking. The hosts Sarah & Steve were super helpful & kind and there's a pub very close with towns of food choices

Really nice campsite. Good showers, clean toilets and nice open area. Little soggy when it rains but normal due a campsite.

Camp on a high spot if you can.

Gonna be back here again next month.
