Stayed 3 nights on a grass pitch on the small tourer part of the site. Easy access, well looked after pitches and planting.
Friendly owners who allowed us to choose from the pitches available when we arrived ( 7 was good).
Perfectly spotless shower block with adequate number of toilets and showers although push button showers annoyingly cold for the first 4 pushes!!
Garage with shop within 15 minutes walk and a brilliant location for getting out and about on the train as Bamford Station very near. There are quite a few trains passing very close to the site but we didn't find them obtrusive at all.
Loved the area and would definitely stay at this site again. ?

Myself and my girlfriend hired a VW camper van and that’s here over the august bank holiday weekend. Booked it a little short notice and Pam was really helpful and friendly. The campsite is adjacent to a railway line which I was a little concerned about. When we arrived the place was beautiful. The sound of the trains going by really didn’t bother us in the slightest. The place was really clean. Clean toilets and showers and washing up are. Would 100% recommend and will be returning. Thank you Pam.

Almost too good to review and share how fantastic swallow holme is. Truly an amazing camp site, lovely atmosphere and even more lovely hosts! Stayed for two nights and enjoyed lovely walks in the peaks, will definitely be back! Perfectly placed near the station and garden centre for much needed breakfasts after long walks/rides||Lovely clean well equipped facilities, with nice touches including providing maps and visitor information! Had put a huge amount of effort to keep everything COVID-19 secure.

Quirky site with mostly substantial seasonal pitches, about 9 touring Pitches, and 6 lodges about to go it. Right on river Derwent but the lodges mostly get the Riverside. Also railway line up high on other side of river - bust but not bad. Apart from that great facilities block and pretty nice. Near pleasant village and 24 hr minimarket and petrol station 1/4 mile away. Pubs nearby community run.

Had an amazing weekend stay last weekend, such a peaceful campsite and Pam really helpful. Beautiful surroundings very well kept clean and tidy. There is a train track to back of site which we were aware of but to be honest it didn't bother us in the slightest. The trains are not inter City and there are not so many at night time. I would thoroughly recommend this gem and hoping there will be room for us to come back again.

Great site in a fantastic part of Derbyshire. Site and facilities exceptionally clean and well maintained. Owner and staff very friendly. Will come again but will need to book well in advance to make sure one of the 12 touring slots will be available. Only able to give one days notice this time. Very lucky and our two nights there were fantastic.

We booked on spec for four nights and we both decided it wasn't long enough.||Very friendly owner showed us to our pitch which was really good. A small little patio area for our table and chairs. Lovely communal grassed area with picnic tables. ||The whole site is beautifully kept and all of the touring pitches are a good size. ||It was a gem of a site and we hope to book up for next year but stay much longer. ||Lovely walks around the area straight from the site. ||Would highly recommend.

Am amazed at some of the words used by other travellers, serene, peaceful, quiet!, Am cutting my 2 night stay short due to the lack of sleep. Trains do not stop at midnight as someone suggested, they run all night, and often, and the ones after 12am are freight trains, heavy and extremely noisy. The site is also sat next to a busy road so those in tents will certainly hear it all. Yes i should have done my homework first, lesson learnt. Site is well maintained and very clean as are the shower and toilet facilities, need to be able to shower with one hand on the button as once pressed it goes off after 5 seconds, annoying but am sure could be adjusted to stay on longer.Yes there are rules as with any campsite, the most comical being that noise on the site has to be kept to a minimum after 10:30-11pm!! Ratings should say for enjoyment of stay, not property, as that only for s part of it, hence i have to score low, will not be returning.
