My son was adamantly opposed to going to camp for years, and when we finally convinced him to give it a try, he LOVED it! When we picked him up he said it went too fast and he wanted to do a longer session next year. The camp has a really laid back vibe and allows for the kids to choose (and invent) their own activities under the guidance of the enthusiastic counselors. As one counselor said to me on the way out, "This is their camp, we are just here to facilitate." We went to Camp Lookout and it was strikingly beautiful. Set amongst shady trees in the dunes of a beautiful lake, it is the picture of a classic summer camp. When I left I was just so sad that I couldn't stay myself!

Amazing!!!! My son returned from Camp Lookout with the biggest smile telling me he wanted the same session for next year. He had an absolute blast. In his words, the counselors where awesome, the activities were fun, and the food was good.

Highly recommended, if you are looking for a beautiful camp for your teens or children. Thank goodness there is a secular / non- religious camp surrounded by the beautiful dunes and forests lakes and rivers of northern Michigan. Thoughtful, connected to nature, smart, LGBTQ+ friendly. This was important to me as a this was important to me as a parent. All of these camps… Crystalaire, Carvela, and Lookout the same philosophy. Connecting human kids with nature. This was one of the best decisions we ever made and I wish we would’ve found it when the kids were younger. But I love that they have programs right through the senior year of high school. The counselors were fantastic.

I am utterly disappointed that four months after I registered my son for this overnight camp they came out a policy which requires covid vaccination AND a negative test. My son registered together with his buddy and they had been really looking forward to it. Now his buddy has to go alone and my son doesn't get to go. There are many reasons why parents wouldn't vaccinate their kids and I don't need to disclose why I haven't vaccinated this kid of mine (I have kids who are vaccinated). But the problem here is a big decision and change like this one came long after enrollment started. I have three kids and we have been to camps all over the place this summer and no one requires vaccination or even a test or a mask. So this change of policy in your camp came as a huge surprise because it was very unexpected and has profoundly impacted us. I am not saying there can't be a change in your policy but it should not go far beyond general guidelines set by the government. I don't believe the general guideline requires vaccination. Please show me if otherwise. A competent leadership should have already discussed about the current covid situation and decided whether vaccine is required or not BEFORE enrollment started so they don't have to make unnecessary changes that would deeply disrupt people's plans and emotions. There are many great overnight camps out there and this one will the one that we would avoid.

Steer clear of this place. The owner's sole concern is making money and nothing else. Children's welfare and their family's will be found at the bottom of Curtis' priority list. The experience will adversely affect your child's mental health, that I can assure you. Requests for help made by a parent will go unanswered. If you love your child, (be it a camper or member of staff) do not let them come anywhere near Camp Lookout or Crystalaire. Curtis will employ staff illegally even if they do not possess the correct visa status. As a lawyer, I am utterly shocked at the lack of enforcement of regulation as he is clearly able to act in any which way he thinks fit in order to benefit himself. No doubt IF and only IF, Curtis responds to this review, he will fabricate any lie or version of events he can rather than take responsibilities for his actions. Although, a reply from him would be a first!! I'm still available for a call if you are done hiding..

Camp Lookout is an extremely special place for kids to experience -- so grateful my daughter was able to come here -- it's a camp that cultivates creativity, builds community and acceptance and gives kids a chance to enjoy the beauty of nature.
