Visited Vogel State Park in November 2024 and stayed in site 67. As you most already know, all of the campgrounds facilities were renovated in 2022 and 2023 to include the sites, electrical and water. What a great job, our site was level, clean and working perfectly. The new gravel was freshly raked and the fire pit clean of all use.

There is currently construction at the entrance next to the visitors center. A new facility is being built lakeside and from the looks of it now, it will be a wonderful addition to an already beautiful park. If you haven't already, add this one to your must see list.

We came up here for a camping weekend trip and it was so fun! Lots of plots for tents and campers alike and they have nice clean restrooms (each stall is a family size with a changing table, toilet, sink, mirror, and shower with handicap seating available) throughout. We chose a spot with electric and water access and it worked perfectly. Lots of easy trails, a waterfall lookout, a cute history of the area museum and a visitors center with camping supplies available. There is a $5 fee for parking your car in the parking areas just fyi. It’s also very dog friendly. We will definitely keep coming back here every year as a family.

A scenic gem with hiking trails, cottages, and tent camping, a lake that offers kayaking, fishing, and other water activities in the warmer seasons. There was some construction during my visit, so I look forward to returning to see what improvements have been made. The park is dog friendly and has many trails in which to explore.

Amazing experience except for the construction which is why I'm only leaving a 4 star review. The camp sites are very well kept and if you do what we did and get the walk in campsites they offer a good bit of privacy. The walk is equivalent to walking up a driveway so don't be dissuaded by the term. A few really good trails lead out from this park. My husband and I loved that and eventually were able to connect with the AT up to Blood Mountain! Food is required to be kept in your car due to bears. I recommend bringing a good sterlite container and keeping all your food in it so when you go to the car you can just grab your container :)!

I took the hike from Bear Hair to Blood mountain. The trails were covered with leaves in October and it makes seeing the trails difficult. I highly recommend: water pack, hiking shoes, a snack, and hiking sticks. Be prepared for some elevation: about 2000 ish ft. Expect poor trail markings. I did not think it was well marked, although I am not very good at directional awareness (I’m not getting A+ I’m not gonna fail either). But the trails could be better marked. Personally I got lost, ended up on Mile marker 9 and hitched a ride back with some nice older firemen after multiple people passed me and my dog walking back to the park. The 2.5 miles on the highway was a shorter route than backtracking and potentially getting lost. It is a beautiful summit view, and I did feel like it was worth it once I finally got there, although it did seem longer than what it was advertised. It took me about 4.4 miles to finally summit.

The park is currently under construction, I’m not sure what they are building, but the signs are not great for parking. The signs for the trail or not well marked. It seems like a popular state park and there was a lot of traffic going faster than the 15 mph. Has a beautiful Lake view, and I saw that there can be kayaking and activity during the summertime.

Entrance: $5 / vehicle CASH only
Dogs: allowed on leash

The park itself is very beautiful, especially during autumn. Hiking trails could be better marked, on the path, and leading to them. Also, there is very limited parking here, I had to circle around 4 times before snagging a spot.

Only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that it's under construction and that took away from the experience, also there is road noise constantly but that didn't bother us much. The campsite was wonderful and the park beautiful and close to so many great places! We hiked the AT up to Blood Mountain and if you need to go to town it's close by. We got campsite Q. It's a "walk in", site but it was like walking up a driveway so I wouldn't consider these spots "walk in" as that makes it sound back country so don't be turned off by them! They offer some privacy which I enjoyed while still being close to the rest of the park and facilities.
