Beautiful park with gorgeous trails. I did the Scouts Trail (Red) which is basically the outer trail, long about 5.2 miles. I hiked it counterclockwise and it wasn't challenging expected when you get to the view of the river when there is a very steep part, but fortunately it's quite short.
The trail has interesting points such as the old landfill that's been taken over by nature but you can still see metal and glass bottles all over and the views are gorgeous! Fall and Winter would definitely be the best times to appreciate the views. The last mile or so of the hike, past the communication tower is not great. It's colonized by honeysuckles and you walk past an area where hundreds of green waste bags have been dumped, not great, but the rest of the hike has become one of my favorites.
The trail is freshly marked so it was easy to find except when you get to the soccer fields and to the communication tower.
At the soccer fields you want to walk towards the pavilion, you'll see a swallows tower nearby, walk towards it and look to the left; you should see a post with a red blaze.
At the communication tower instead, keep walking straight from the trail along the fence towards the opposite side of the tower (the entrance), you'll see a gravel road and an electric pole a bit down the road with 2 red blazes, turn left into the vegetation exactly at the blazes, it's easy to miss.
I was able to find the way by using the All Trails app otherwise I might have been a bit lost in those 2 occasions.
There are multiple parking areas with amenities along the trail.
We encountered a couple of people closer to the parking lots on Friday morning.
It took me and my dog 2 hours on the clock with a few stops for pics and a sustained pace overall.
Hike highly recommended

Updated review as of July 2024:
Still GORGEOUS. Still the cleanest park around (this park & memorial park really need praised for how well kept they are). How these wonderful ppl maintain this park &can keep it as clean and Wildlife friendly (which is the most important in the past 10 yrs&moving fwd) with the sz of this place is beyond wonderful! So many baby deer now! Absolutely gorgeous! I am still rescuing waterfowl at BLP. The deer, rabbits, enormous trees are still absolutely breathtaking. I wish i could bring all the deer in my neighborhood here to live out their lives. Animals born into this park are SO BLESSED! Bird watchers go HERE!!! I have studied birds for awhile. Hand fed babies who lost parents...u can learn a lot and see so so many birds here!!! If u had a big lake I can only imagine who would stop by during migration. I'm going to keep coming. I'm sure it's still interesting. If you put in a tiny gift shop you'd make money&could put it toward the park. That is one suggestion I have and just about the one and only right now. You do an amazing job. LOVE the love u show fir the chimney swifts& purple Martin's!
(Lots of different fields and or activities for ppl of all ages including playgrounds)

I love this park and have been going almost daily with my dog for over 5 years. However, recently we have noticed dogs unleashed and especially a pit bull the owner never leashes and then threatens people when they ask him to leash it. I cannot go back the way it is now, please do something about the unleashed dogs, it is bad. This park is spectacular, the employees actually care but just a few bad actors have ruined it, please get our park back.

This was our first time being in Harrison Hills Park, we were impressed with the overlook of the Allegheny River, getting to walk to the Eastern Terminus of the Rachel Carson trail, the amenities included indoor toilets, and the ginormous playground. Great for families of all ages. The picnic areas were well marked, and ample parking was available.

Lots to do here. There are several short blazed trails that all seem moderate in difficulty. The overlook area has a nice paved walking path and several wooded trails start here. There are many parking areas and it's a little confusing if you don't know where you're going. Go to the overlook area if you're not sure what to do.

Nice park overall. The main playground is very large with a nice view of the river close by. The secondary playground is nice also just smaller. For hikers there is a nice selection of trails. On the downside you could tell that maintenance is lacking in various aspects. The roads are in very poor condition. Furthermore there are far too many dogs being walked in close proximity to the main playground. Why people would bring their dogs around smaller kids is beyond me. There is plenty of space elsewhere for dogs to be walked. This park is worth a visit if you are close by.

Always a fun place to go. Beautiful and clean. Large playground area always has a family or more playing. Paved path that circles the main playground area is very nice and leads to an overlook of the river. Many privatish pavilion areas with grills and water pumps. Other smaller playgrounds throughout the park. Plus there are hiking trails.
